How to apply

If you’re invited to apply to sponsor your parents and grandparents, there are 2 applications:

  • You must apply to become a sponsor.
  • Your parents or grandparents must apply for permanent residence.
  • Submit both the sponsorship and the permanent residence applications together online at the same time.

IRCC must get your application package 60 days from the date of your invitation. The deadline is clearly marked on your invitation to apply.

Step 1. Get an invitation to apply

IRCC randomly selects and invites potential sponsors to apply to sponsor their parents and grandparents.

Step 2. Apply online

Do not begin completing your application until you have been asked to apply to the current year programme. This will prevent you from utilising out-of-date forms or an outdated instruction manual. The sponsorship application processing fee is not refundable if you apply but are not accepted. This year, they will accept applications through an online process from those who are invited. On its website, IRCC continually updates information regarding the procedure. You must visit its website to acquire the most recent information. The procedures to sponsor your parents and grandparents in Quebec can alter if you reside in Quebec.
